ARTIST STATEMENT

 

 

As a child, I was enchanted with the shapes and design of God’s creation.  Walks with my father through the Carolina countryside planted the seed of a growing awareness and appreciation of nature’s beauty.  In my teenage years, weekend excursions to the Carolina coast had me not only loving the sights and sounds of the ocean waves, but also the tiny intricacies of broken seashells and busy little creatures in the hot sand.  After becoming a wife and mother, I discovered too that life has a chaotic and complex side, a side bringing with it a time away from self and self only pursuits. These were times however that I learned what love really meant…a selfless giving in which love was shared in countless smiles, tears, and touches. 

 

Life and love are at the core of my work, and my creations are the summation of my experiences.  Allowing my soul to flow into my oils, painting gives me the spiritual and emotional outlet that I need to create my innermost view of serenity.
